CiDRA Concrete Systems on site

The challenge

The concrete industry has long relied on labor-intensive manual monitoring: on-site technicians assessing air content and quality once a truck arrives at the job site. Testing can only happen after delivery, so quality issues surface too late to act on, and a single sample gives no indication of when or how a load’s quality changed en route. That’s costly for producers and truck operators alike.

The solution

CiDRA Concrete Systems developed the SMARThatch™ system, featuring AIRtrac™ technology, to give their customers visibility into concrete information from batch plant to job site. CiDRA partnered with both HED and Exosite to build a connected IoT monitoring platform on top of it.

The platform provides:

  • Real-time monitoring of air content, temperature, drum rotation, and volume
  • Remote data visualization for batch issue identification and mix design testing
  • Historical data export, notification alerts, and fleet-wide analytics
  • Over-the-air software updates for field devices

Results

With real-time visibility across the entire supply chain, CiDRA’s customers are able to reduce waste, lower operational costs, enhance competitiveness, and improve quality control — catching issues while a load is still in transit rather than after it’s too late to act.
